About Crystal
Crystal Kay Norman is a veteran of the United States Coast Guard, raised in Memphis, Tennessee. Her service instilled a simple standard: show up, do the work, and look out for the people around you.
After her time in uniform, Crystal set out to build something she wished more women had access to — real, practical self-defense training taught in a space designed around them from the start. That vision became SC Combatives, opening soon in Beaufort, South Carolina.
Crystal also founded The Special Operations Protective Order, a nonprofit dedicated to holding Stolen Valor violators accountable, with particular focus on those falsely claiming Special Operations service.
By women. For women. Open to all who want to train.
SC Combatives teaches practical self-defense: situational awareness, real physical technique, and the confidence to use both. Classes are built with women as the starting point — not an afterthought — and welcome anyone ready to put in the work.
Stolen Valor isn’t a victimless act. Every false claim of Special Operations service trades on the trust that genuine operators and their families earned the hard way — and it can put real people, and real missions, at risk.
The Special Operations Protective Order works to identify and hold accountable those who falsely claim Special Operations service, standing alongside the veteran community it represents.
